The naming of cats

Dear class,

"The naming of cats is a difficult matter. It isn't just one of your holiday games." These are the very first lines of a poem by T.S. Eliot, The naming of cats, which gained world publicity in Webber's renowned musical Cats. It's quite a spectacle! If you haven't had the chance of seeing the show yet, you should make your parents take you to London this very weekend and watch a performance in one of the many West End theatres. Or just tune in to Youtube. Whichever is most likely to happen.

Whereas the song emphasizes the importance of a cat's name, I want you to put some thought in your blog's name. Finding a sensible and intriguing name is not an easy matter. Browse through poems, song texts, other blogs to get inspired or use a quote, like I did. "Think Big" is actually a quote by nobody less than Donald Trump. You have probably heard of this businessman/TV personality who is currently one of the candidates running for president of the US. He is known to blurt out discriminating and hurtful statements about touchy themes like gun control and skin colour.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan. On the contrary. Of course, I wholeheartedly hope that you think big when writing your blog. Give it your best shot, make the most of it, be creative! At the same time I urge you to think before you post and do the exact opposite of dear candidate Trump. Feel free to state your opinions amusingly or even critically, though always in a considerate and respectful way. You will certainly get the hang of it in no time. I'm truly looking forward to reading your posts!

Your task for week 9 is to create a blog and write a first entry in which you explain your blog name. Also add your expectations towards this project. Good luck!
